If it's working don't install the 3.16-rc4 kernel or any other kernel
from the mainline PPA. Just continue to get the daily Trusty updates.

Given that you have a "Richland" APU, this might be fixed by the BAPM
(Balanced Average Power Management) support which has been added to the
upstream 3.16 kernel.
