Public bug reported:

I have an Acer Extensa 5620, with GMA x3100 video chipset. When using
Chrome or Chromium to play videos on Youtube the screen goes completely
black and I could not revive it. The audio is played during this. I have
been using Xubuntu and Chrome for about a year, and have only been
experiencing this for a few months. As I recall this came in around the
upgrade that brought in the little icon in the status bar, that shows
Chrome running in the background even when the windows are closed. I
tried reinstalling the newest LTS Xubuntu (14.04), still no good. With
Firefox it works just fine. I guess it could be something about hardware
acceleration, but it is a shot in the dark.

So summarized: I tried to play Youtube videos on Chrome and Chromium.

I was expecting it to playback as it had for years before.

It did not, the screen went all black, audio started playing, and I
could not bring the screen back to showing anything. This has happened a
dozen times, and always happens when trying again.

Thanks!
