@francis-regan: I'm still getting issues with Chromium on 16.04, but I
don't see the same (fifo_underrun) error. So it's likely that it was
solved.
What I see now (only just checked the logs) are messages like:

i have the same problem on my laptop with ubuntu 14.04 and kernel 4.5
RC2 connected to my TV with a hdmi cable.

ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information running the following
from a terminal:
