I went through more nonsense trying to update the bios to version 3.60 but I finally succeeded and reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04. Updating bios 3.50 to 3.60 did not improve anything. I downloaded Ubuntu version 15.0? hoping that it may make some difference. It did not. With version 13 of Ubuntu my
