So I looked at what kernels I had installed and there was only one. And
it wasn't the kernel I was expecting for 15.10. The kernel version on my
system was:
uname -r
3.13.0-45-generic
I searched for the version that wily was supposed to ship with and found

I have disabled the setting in System Settings -> Brightness and Lock ->
"Turn screen off when inactive for:" by setting it to Never. This isn't
really a solution though, just a temporary workaround. One interesting

Thanks for looking into this. I updated my bios to version F10 using the
Gigabyte @BIOS utility and Windows.
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
