Public bug reported: I Updated to Ubuntu 15.10 with a full new installation. My monitor (Viewpoint, VP 712 DI, 17") that worked perfectly with 14.04 has bouts of flipping from normal performance to pixelated nonsense images. I uninstalled 15.10 and reinstalled 14.04 and the problem disappeared. I also disaassembled the monitor and checked it out inside: all the capacitors are healthy and the boards seem in perfect condition.
After being convinced that the monitor was not at fault, I upgraded 14.04 to 15.10, hoping that the driver for the monitor in 14.04 would remain in service but apparently the upgrade (as did the new comoplete installation) still changed the driver and my monitor is once again acting up. I manage, most of the time, to return my picture to normal by typing cont+alt+del, which brings up the "shut down/restart" option. I "X" the box closed and usually get the monitor to return to normal functioning---for a while. Obviously, this is not a viable solution for the long term. My question is, how do I get and install a driver that will properly handle the performance of my monitor? Can I "hijack" the driver from 12.04 and activate it in 15.10? ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514260 Title: Monitor problems with Ubuntu 15/10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1514260/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
