@Bryan Yeah that's why open source collaboration rocks :) I will mark

@bhat3 The problem started when I upgraded to Xenial.
I tested 4.6.0-040600-generic and the bug appears to be fixed.

Running a newer 4.6 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.6-yakkety and it seems like the issue is gone. That
would actually mean that this bug seems like a duplicate of Bug
#1550779.
@Bryan: Can you please test the newer kernel as well and confirm this?

Just did a quick try while working with the annoyance before i will
switch back to my laptop i found that the options for the intel xorg
driver will proably have no impact on this issue. For example:
t450s:~$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i tear
[10.276] (==) intel(0): TearFree disabled
My docking station is Lenovo ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock model number
DU9033S1
