It has been fixed. Installing kernel-12 AND Intel-2.9.0 fixed it for my

I just installed the newest Intel driver =
"xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.9.0-1_i386.deb" and it too failed like all the rest.
After less than 2 minutes karmic was frozen.

Intel's 82865G/PE/P PCI to AGP Controller Freezes Kubuntu 9.10 B5
I chose to upgrade from Kubuntu 9.04 KDE 4.3.1 to 9.10 KDE 4.3.1 instead of
starting from clean slate using ISO.
During the upgrade using Aptitude, I had to manually resolve dependency
conflicts. Everything worked fine until the
I have the same freeze on both Jaunty and Koala. I have to do a power
cycle and reboot. It happens around 30 seconds after bootup. I have no
way to access any files until another reboot and then it all happens
again.
The work around is to revert to the old intel-2.4 driver. Using Koala, I
