[RS690M X1200] flickering after update on Jaunty

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X,
which is the
HP6910p (Mobility Radeon X2300 chipset, M64; RV535).
Flicker is there with the ati/radeon driver, but greatly reduced using
the Option DisplayPriority HIGH addition to my xorg.conf
file.
Using the drivers from:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates
Using the XORG Edgers PPA, I can't get past the login screen...I'm a
old lady. But this Mobility Radeon Chipset (X2300) is not the
greatest. The regular radeon driver works very well for the most part.

[RS690M X1200] flickering after update on Jaunty

I ended up grabbing a /usr/share/xserver-xorg/pci/radeon.ids from the
official Jaunty package and using it in combination with the package
from Tormod's PPA. All working fine now with no flickering. :-)

box.
Following the instructions here I've downloaded and installed
https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ppa/+files/xserver-xorg-
Try xorg-edgers. The current release is stable. There you must install
the whole ppa in contrast to Tormod Volden's ppa.
Sometimes a package could be defective. It's bleeding edge.

saliheenm, I wonder if that helped just because DRI is disabled with
radeonhd. Try Option DRI off with the -radeon/-ati driver.
Ian, this is possible, but you can work around it by making a minimal
xorg.conf where you specify the ati driver.
What Jens said :) I provide the packages as-is and
