It has been stable for me when using the version from karmic in jaunty
version: 185.18.36-0ubuntu2
The only thing I notice is that sometimes apps like firefox and pidgin
get a black background in theme sometimes, but I have not tracked that
down to know if it is a video driver problem.

Been using the computer all day on 171 with no hangs. Also the iPod
syncs with vmplayer without hanging as well.
So either the 180.44 is problematic with the 7300 GS or the fact that
Ubuntu automatically installed the nvidia-180-libvdpau is a problem. I
