Comfirm previous poster. Modifying /etc/X11/xorg.conf
from :
SubSection Display
Virtual 2150 720
EndSubSection
to:
SubSection Display
Virtual 1024
Same problem since upgrade to Jaunty.
Totem and VLC exit when starting playback.
Is there a solution or workaround available?

I noticed that if I add this line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Option DRI off
in Device section, It leads to X11 request 132.19 failed message when
I play video files. Looks it is related to Intel driver. When I remove
the line I can play videos normally but I have Ubuntu freez problem :

Error: VLC exits unexpectedly when attempting to play DVDs
Expected result: Normal uninterrupted playback of DVD
Actual result: Program will exit when directed to play a dvd.
Method: On Asus Eeepc 900
1) Load DVD in tray
2) Open VLC, choose Open Disc and select dvd device
3) Press OK

Unfortunately not able to provide any techie input, however I have
noticed that I can open video by using the command line to specify an
input file.
Whenever an open file dialog is called up, whether from Media menu or
through the playlist, a crash occurs.
