Just (belatedly) upated to Ubuntu 9.04 over the weeekend going from 8.04 to
8.10 and then 9.04, my video card is : 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI
Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10] and I got the same initial
behaviour which then stopped after executing glxinfo and
BTW, I'd previously added the following to /etc/X11/xorg.conf in order to try
to get my video card to perform 'again' after the upgrade :

Using the Alpha 5 Live CD, I could not reproduce this issue. Compiz was
on (by default). I could not test it with radeon.modeset=1, as that
resulted in a non-booting system. The false sync reporting issue appears
to have been fixed.
However, in 9.04 when I exit glxgears using the window manager's

Well, next I'd like to forward this issue upstream, but first it must be
retested on latest development version of Karmic to make sure the issue
still happens there with the latest code. ISO images are available via
