Your Xorg log shows i915_dri.so is properly loaded and drm was opened. Yet glxinfo shows you get software rendering. That looks like a permission problem with /dev/dri/card0. Permissions are handled via ACL and the ACL should be set by udev in Karmic. However, your udev log does not show any ACL at
