Installation from Xubuntu daily-live cd was not possible as X would not initialise the screen. Installation possible only via alternative cd, but X still not loading on reboot (after install) Tried: i) Different kernel, including from Jaunty ii) Different xorg settings, vesa, nodri, removing all extra modules etc. iii) Downgrading xserver components to jaunty versions --> worked Problem solved by changing xorg version, and downgrading manually from synaptic.
