nouveau not supporting backlight

Re-closing this. The people who reopened posters (a) had totally
different hardware, (b) did not provide any actual info, and (c) didn't
add themselves to cc.
If someone should still have issues regarding backlight, please file a
full issue as instructed by http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Bugs
Ended up here looking for a solution to "Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 don't modify
brightness on Sony VAIO VPCCW (GT 230M)"[1]

I notice from your dmesg that you're being hit with the problem that
prevents nouveau.ko being loaded on boot - the initramfs loads i915.ko
which pulls in a different version of drm.ko to the one that nouveau
needs.
There's a more recent nouveau snapshot in the xorg-edgers ppa - you
