** Description changed:
I am unable to login to a gnome session. After I select my name from
gdm, and type my password, I see the a small animated light. The screen
goes black, like it is trying to start up X and then just returns to the
gdm home.
This did not happen on Karmic Alpha
Probably still not the right package.

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

I've installed Ubuntu Karmic with the daily build from 2009-09-09. There was
the same problem, that I can't login.
Now I started a virtual console. Now I can login me.
I installed with apt-get the xorg-driver-fglrx package. Now, my graphical login
worked.
