Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

When I connect an external monitor to my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop [with
ATI 200m graphics card], the monitor syncs to 1440x...@75 [correct for
the given monitor].

The monitor displays very small flickering on the edges of the icons,
and down the side of the screen. It also displays a very small [but
noticeable] flicker over the rest of the monitor.

If I dual boot into XP and connect the same monitor, the 1440x...@75
resolution displays fine.
