I haven't encountered this bug in Kubuntu 9.10. It looks like it have
been fixed. I will try lucid within several days as time permits.

I have noticed exactly the same problem, just replace AMD with NVidia
and its just the same. I suspect a Xorg problem with this rather than an
AMD one.
