Yeah, it's definitely not #466539.
#419328 looks similar (the original description is very vague), but
opening Display Preferences does not cause the crash. It's a different
bug.

Oh, I found out something that might help.
The crash only occurs when I have Appearance>Visual Effects set to
Normal or Extra, and it's because of the width of the virtual desktop.

That means this affects all Linux distributions. It will probably be a
while before a fix is released.
