You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: update-manager
The last three times I have run the update manager (over the last few days), Xorg has decided to restart without any warning. after X restarts, mouse and keyboard do not work, I login with ssh from another computer and get the message "restart required". restarting gdm manually does not help with mouse/keyboard. I am just assuming this is caused by update-manager at the moment, since that seems to be the common denominator the three times this has happened. In anycase having X restart without warning is bad, and unexpected.
