This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

Am running Natty Alpha2 on that machine and haven't seen the problem
so I think is it 'cured'.

On a Thinkpad X40 running Karmix Alpha 6 (upgraded to latest as per Oct
8) I get a blank screen after rebooting. The console switching (CTRL+ALT
F1-6) does not function and am left no option but to hold the power
button down to force power off.
Attached is:
After today's upgrade I can no longer log in. I get the exact same
error about no /dev/fb0 if I try to startx from the command line.
