I too still have this problem after upgrading to 10.04 :-(
I've tried the solution of tweaking /proc/acpi/video/*/DOS, suggested in

Hi!
When I close the display lid on my W500 with GM45 the sound output stops/loops
for a second.
Other than this I have no problems with the lid. Might be related or not.
