Fine, here are some results. It seems the issue is related to XVideo extension and Compiz. Window Manager Compiz - Totem[1] (using "ximagesink") -> no issue - Totem (using "xvimagesink" or "autovideosink") -> issue - Totem (using "xvimagesink device=0"[2]) -> issue - VLC (XV output in pre

Yes, it still persists with 9.10 updated yesterday to latest available. An additional (maybe unuseful) note: the no-video occurs on AVi files on first minimizing action (i.e. minimize -> restore -> black video), instead on second action with OGV files (i.e. minimize -> restore -> video -> minimize
