Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
I've configured my girlfriend's laptop to use the latest xorg stable updates from the swat repository... deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu jaunty main Last night it was auto-detecting the full resolution of her built-in laptop screen (no external monitor used presently). However, this morning, She's only able to see a tiny desktop, which doesn't fill the whole screen. Monitor autodetection through gnome-display-configuration achieves nothing. The small set of resolutions remain the only ones which can be used. The desktop is usable, but the resolution detection has regressed since yesterday. We did an update and upgrade (which may have triggered a grey out of the screen, which required a reboot). On reboot, the screen was tiny. Other things being equal I'll roll back to an earlier xorg by deprioritising the x-swat repository and setting the priorities of other repositories to more than 1000, according to "man apt_preferences". This will permit a rollback. However, the bug will need to be handled before releasing the updates more widely.
