Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
I have a samsung syncmaster which I use as my primary display screen (res. 1680x1050), I have a small Eizo L365 next to my samsung (on the left hand side) (res 1024x766). I seem to only be able to configure my monitors via nvidia-settings (which writes to xorg.conf), so I do that. I selected TwinView functionality, and set the Eizo Position to "left of" and the Samsung to absolute. When I restart the machine the splash screen is being drawn in the Eizo while having the screensize (or resolution) of the Samsung. So it (the splashscreen) starts in the Eizo (which is not able to render it completely --> part of bottom and part of right are missing), and the splash continues (partially) in the samsung (the samsung is only partially drawn to, as there is only a 1680-1024 pixelwidth, so nothing more to draw). So the layout is totally messed up. It's like x switches the screens around for a moment. When the OS is fully loaded everything flashes back to the way it should. This all keeps on working well untill I start a fullscreen app or game... Then it starts drawing everything wrong again. It's hard to explain but it's like it makes the secondary monitor the primary monitor and gives it the screensize of the primary monitor. This bug does not occur if the Eizo is set to the right hand side (as the non-primary screen). Everything (even splash) works fine then. It might just be a bug in the nvidia-setting manager as It does not seem to keep all the settings stick (the Eizo "left of" position always resets to absolute +0+0 for the Eizo and +1024+0 for the Samsung). But in my opinion that should still work like that so therefore I think it's xorg related. Please let me know if you require further information...
