It's not the same issue like in the bug. As you can see in the attached
picture, it's completely readable, only there's a black frame around the
notification.
And IIRC when you set renderaccel off, the system gets significantly slower.
About suspending: does it work for you? For me the backlight
Hi!
About minor glitches: you could try to follow the "oldies but goldies" release
notes from the 9.10: http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/910, at the
bottoom of the page, where they talk about X server. I've tried and it works.
Here below mine's: it's minimal but it does the job. ;)

I did the upgrade, still without the above PPA.
Either the 2.6.32.18 kernel, or the 1.7.6 xorg fixed the issue, so I can log in
now without a xorg.conf now.
There are some lesser glitches though, suspend doesn't work, and the notify-osd
rendering is faulty when hovering over the mouse.

Actually I didn't notice you're not the original bug reporter Luca.
Especially since the issues you're currently seeing differ from the
original report, you should file a new bug, and do it by the command
`ubuntu-bug xorg` - DON'T post tarballs with files to bug reports, it
just makes it harder for

Hi!
I've took a little test after lucid-beta1 refresh and some glitches still

1) Windows are without borders and title bar;
2) Playing videos with totem is fits and skips.

[M6-LY] radeon kms doesn't work - returns to login
Ok. I've did what you told and used the DRM PPA. Here we go:
Boot went fine and I've seen splash too.
1) It got stuck just before the login screen with the message, printed on the
screen, "[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Failed to parse relocation !". I pressed
enter a few times and got the login
[This is an automatic notification.]
Thanks for reporting this bug to help making the -ati graphics driver
better. We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including
this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel.
I don't know if your bug is one of the ones fi

Ok. I've been quite busy this day, but I've found a little of spare time
to update lucid partion. Problem still happens even with the updates up
to this very moment.
Lucid on this laptop is still unusable, since it loops for ever on the
login screen and never reaches the desktop.
Here to you the
I'm experiencing the same problem. I Tried with both EXA and XAA and I
will attach output from those tries.
It seems that setting Option "RenderAccel" "off" (borrowed from release
notes of karmic) helps a bit; at least I can gain the desktop. But, as
soon as I do something everythings hangs again
maybe i was too optimistic.
after today's upgrades, desktop can't load anymore with 24 bits.
there was xorg update to 1.7.3.902-1ubuntu7 , but i reverted it to the original
1ubuntu6, and the system still doesn't work properly. something else broke it,
but i don't have the time to check them all.
lucid is greatly improving. after the recent updates, the desktop can load with
default settings (24 bits, KMS, no xorg.conf) it's a bit slow though, xv output
doesn't work in gstreamer, gksu faded background is garbled, mouse hover over
notifications is flickery.
16 bits works nice.

forgot to mention, that suspend was a complete mess, it didn't shut down
the LCD backlight, and couldn't come back, I had to shut it down with
4sec power button push.

Maybe you can try the drm-next kernel from the mainline kernel PPA? If
you could also test with lucid and xorg-edgers packages, we could
forward the issue upstream.
