I had the same problem on ATI Radeon 9200 PRO. Disable Option
EnablePageFlip in Device Section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf fix it. It should
looks like this
Section Device
Identifier Device0
Driver radeon
Option EnablePageFlip off

I have the same problem under Ubuntu 9.10 with stellarium 0.10.4 on an
IBM laptop Thinkpad R40 which has a ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 graphics
card: it crashes during startup with a segmentation fault
