Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-vesa
I'm currently running X with the VESA driver while debugging a suspend issue, and came across a freeze in the VESA driver on my hardware. Steps to reproduce: 1) Boot to login screen (gdm) using VESA driver 2) Switch to VT1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and back to VT7 8 times. 3) Try to switch to VT1 again, screen freezes and fades to white. Machine does not respond to ping. I have tried this over and over again, it always freezes on the 9th attempt, no more, no less. Also, putting the machine in suspend can trigger it if I have already switched VT's 8 times, otherwise a suspend/resume cycle seems to reset the GPU so that I can successfully switch another 8 times! Pretty weird bug. Please let me know if I can provide any more information. PS: Ignore the Xorg log attached by apport, it's from a new session (of course).
