This bug report is being closed due to your comment regarding this being
fixed with an update. For future reference you can manage the status of
your own bugs by clicking on the current status in the yellow line and
then choosing a new status in the revealed drop down box. You can learn

BTW, is there any reason, why it is not possible to update straight from
8.10 to 9.10 instead of installing 9.04 in between?

Updating was nice and fluent now. Karmic Koala is in the house :-) And
the resolution 1024x768 still works. Thanks guys!
Only thing is that when I shutdown Xubuntu, it does not power off, but
stays in text screen:"xxx login: init: usplash main process (1669)
killed by TERM signal [ 619.240433] Sys
The system is now updated to 9.04. There was a minor problem with jdk-
6u10-docs.zip, but it is now fixed.
Good news is that the resolution is finally 1024x768! And now version
9.10 is also available. I'll update the system once again. Then we'll
see how the resolution works in the latest Xubuntu.
I updated system files of 8.10 today 3 Jan 2010, but it is still not
possible to use 1024x768 resolution. Next I'll try to update system to
the version 9.04, because 9.10 seems not to be available for Xubuntu
8.10 at the moment.
