Public bug reported: Running "xauth generate" with a large timeout value (e.g., "xauth generate :0.0 . trusted timeout 99999999") causes the X server to crash with an assertion failure. Immediately upon running the command, the X server crashes, and after a few seconds, the login screen appears.
I have attached a full backtrace. Xorg.0.log and dmesg don't contain any relevant data. lsb_release -rd: Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core: Installed: 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 Candidate: 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 Version table: *** 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4.1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com karmic-security/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- "xauth generate" with large timeout crashes X server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
