Today's updates changed the system behaviour during boot:
Fsck output is shown (as previously, but not reported before) but no splash.
Then gdm starts just fine and I'm able to login normally.
Switch off splash is shown.

Thanks for reporting this bug to help making the -ati graphics driver
better. We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including
this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel.

I can also confirm this on Debian Squeeze, from various users with
different hardware, with different Window Managers.
Pressing the Enter key about 5-10 minutes after logging in via Gdm
causes an automatic logout to Gdm.
It has happened in the terminal, on Iceweasel, Firefox, Arora.

Upd: Sometimes this issue happens also with disabled boot splash screen,
but after 5-20 minutes work at press warious keys.
