Why? Radeonhd has never been the default driver, so the people using it
are most likely those who know what's going on. You can add it to the
wikipage though if you like.

Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like something that should go into
the release notes though and be handled in update-manager (ie.
DistUpgrader), if it isn't handled yet (did not check on that myself).

that's because radeonhd doesn't support kernel modesetting and never
will. You need to add "nomodeset" to the kernel options in grub. The
right thing to do though is to ditch radeonhd for good, -ati has
supported the same devices for some time now, and is the default anyway.
