I'm also having the same issue (with compiz enabled) when maximizing the video
player.
I'm on 9.10, NVIDIA Driver 190.32, Quadro NVS 110M (256 MB with TurboCache)
My xorg.conf is:

Thank you for reporting this issue about xserver-xorg-video-nv. Starting
with Lucid, Ubuntu is transitioning to using the -nouveau video driver
by default instead of -nv. The reason for this change is because
upstream development for the -nv driver has been quite slow. We hope
bugs will get fixed
Please mark this bus as won't fix.

This is not a bug in the -nv driver, which is the official open-source
nvidia driver, because the -nv driver doesn't have any 3D acceleration.
It is a bug in the binary nvidia driver; I'm re-assigning to the correct
package and removing the incomplete status.

Hi jamesm51,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
[This is an automated message. Apologies if it

This is actually an error in the memory management in your driver. I'm
pretty sure I've only seen this on the ati driver so I've assigned it
there as you did not give any details about your computer. Please
reassign to the correct driver if that is not correct.
