Also in xubuntu 10.4. the problem exists. I've made a standard
installation from CD. Doing so, I do not have any xorg.config. Therefore
I am attaching the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log only.

well, this config works without that problems after the login-screen (the
X-server starts in a proper behaviour),
BUT then the screensaver GL does not work - black screen instead of any
GL-animation.

oh yes, this config works, but:
The login screen has a wrong internal resolution (e.g. 1600x1200, but
showing e.g. 1024x768 from the upper left screen). The final X-screen
after login has the proper resolution (e.g. 1024x768).

Hi, something more about the tag "black-screen" after the login-screen:
the upper things are regarding a completely new installed xubuntu 9.10.
Just for testing something different, I have made a second installation
with xubuntu 8.04, and upgraded over all version to the current 9.10.

very sorry about that. Last night I got the thought, that the
screensaver-thing is only a side-effect:
Since the PC is booting without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf, a second odd
behaviour is gone:
