I'm afraid the machine I had with that chipset is no longer working, so
I cannot test it with Oneiric.

[GeForce 6100 GO] Image and Xv corruption
I don't know if this is the same issue. I use a GeForce 6150 on an amd64
system, with Natty. When I try to use XVideo with Nouveau I get a green
window where the video would have been. Setting NoAccel solves the
problem, but then the desktop and video playback are slow.

I can almost confirm that there is no more screen corruption with latest kernel:
3 boot and what I see is corruption before gdm set background, then screen
rendered correctly.
Still corruption in xv video playback.

Right. That turns off all hardware acceleration, which will obviously
make things slow. Ideally this bug will get fixed, and you'll be able

Thank you for that. I've forwarded this bug upstream. Could you please
subscribe to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27076 as the
Novueau developers may wish to get additional information from you.
As for Ubuntu, could you please try copying the attached xorg.conf file

It might be better to just disable Xv in the interim so your whole
desktop doesn't run like molasses. You can do that in System -
Preferences - Multimedia System Selector, go to the video tab and change
the default output dropdown menu from autodetect to X Window System (No
Xv).

Sorry, I missed that you also had corruption outside of video playback
when I suggested that.
