Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Whenever I open a webcam application like cheese or skype xorg goes black and I'm back at the login prompt. All open applications close and any unsaved data is lost. This happens every time. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release: 10.04 apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.5+3ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:7.5+3ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:7.5+3ubuntu1 0 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Mar 16 20:23:24 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard Compaq Presario C700 Notebook PC Package: xorg 1:7.5+3ubuntu1 ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-16-generic root=UUID=f951ee53-42bc-4e62-a8b0-aaa079ef5128 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_CA.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic SourcePackage: xorg Uname: Linux 2.6.32-16-generic x86_64 dmi.bios.date: 09/25/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.34 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 30D9 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 83.21 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.34:bd09/25/2008:svnHewlett-Packard:pnCompaqPresarioC700NotebookPC:pvrF.34:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn30D9:rvr83.21:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: Compaq Presario C700 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: F.34 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: x86_64 kernel: 2.6.32-16-generic ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- xorg crashes back to login screen whenever webcam is access by application https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539986 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
