Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have the Beta Lucid installed and all was working well with Nvidia and
Metacity and the 'normal' Visual Effects setting up until an update late
last week. (This of coincided with my installation and attempt to use
gnome-do). After the update and or install of gnome-do, I can no longer
use the normal or extra Visual Effects options. When I bring up gnome-do
and attempt to turn on Docky, I am informed that "Your display is not
properly configured for theme and animation support. To use these
features you must enable compositing." When I check the
System->Adminstration->Hardware drivers, I see that there are two Nvidia
drivers installed:

version 173 and version current.

The 'version current' is marked green and active.

So it seems that during X Startup the compositing portion of the Window
manager is abbending of otherwise not allowing for composite
functionality. Something is broken.
