Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

When I enabled the Nouveau driver in Xorg, the screen would dim
significantly on every user switch. after 3 or 4 switches I could barely
read it. The text consoles (Alt-F1 trough F6) were dimmed as well.

How to reproduce (At least on my hardware):

1. Create two users (eg. "one" and "two").
2. Enable the nouveau driver in Xorg, reboot
3. Login as user one, then switch to user two (login). The screen gets already
noticeably darker.
4. Switch back and forth between users. Each time the screen gets darker until
you cannot read it anyore.

Once dark the same luminosity level can be seen from the text consoles.

I guess a workaround could be disabling the dim effect which I don't
know if it's easily doable and how... I always run will all effects
disabled but the dim effect is still there.

The bug was submitted using the proprietary driver as I frequently use
user-switching and the old nv driver crash for me (which will be another
bug report).
