Yes! This seems to have been a duplicate of the above mentioned bug. I
have applied the patch and the screensaver indeed works with the gui not
crashing. Thank for your patience with my bumbling through the

I must have been typing with mitts because for some reason the lspci -vvnn
popped right up on this attempt. I'm attaching it now, I hope, and the status

I am affected by the same bug, with white stripes on the upper half of
the screen on a black background flashing a few times, and then
darkness. It is happening to me about once a day.

Mailing list:
This is getting sad. I am now resorting to booting up on my microsoft
hard drive because the Ubuntu crash is occurring consistently after
about five minutes of use regardless. Last night I had to give up
trying to reply because the screen would just go blank and flash the
bars as I was typing.
Burned a live Lucid CD and booted up the HP Pavilion a210n. It experienced
the GL crash/hang too with the antSpotlight, so I guess the upgrade was not an
issue. I did find a warning at the top of one text screen which might be of
interest:
(Process:256): GLibWARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed
Thanks Ubfan. It took a few tries/crashes but I was able to do a quick
enough click to set the screensaver back to blank. Believe me I've
looked through all possible log files and do not remember seeing
missing bonono socket in any of the error messages. Wedged hardware
seems to recur often
Just got the crash again after a day of no problems. It was a /tmp/dbusxxx
socket that the bonobo-activation-server couldn't access.
After fixing the screensaver to use a non GL, no crashes until
just after installing an Skype 2.1 (Claimed to be for Intrepid)
Maybe a pulseaudio problem?
Upgraded from 8.04 to 10.04, and had the screensaver crash when using GL
screensavers. A quick click before the preview screensaver runs to
select a non GL screensaver stopped the crashes. The crash may be
related to the bonobo-activation server crash because of a missing
bonono socket in /tmp,

what it should but quickly an error message came up saying xorg,0 server
was not installed. any thoughts?
