In 12.04, it will also work to create
/usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-wacom.conf with the following line:
Option "Button 3" "button 1 button 1"
This fixes the problem for me.

I've just updated to 12.04 and tested it. The original syntax no longer
works, but this does work:
xsetwacom --set "Wacom Graphire2 4x5 stylus" Button 3 "button 1 button
