Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04, and I am continually getting lockups.
I have 3 monitors connected to 2 twin-port Nvidia GeForce 6200 PCI cards.
The centre monitor is my 'Primary' screen with the menu and taskbar panels.
Center and right hand screens are connected to the same graphics card. All
three monitors were working perfectly with 9.10.

With 10.04, there are a few consistently replicable problems.

If I work using the centre and right screens, then all is well.
If I move the mouse into the left hand screen, then as the cursor crosses to
the left screen, the mouse and keyboard freeze. When this happens, the cursor
mostly disappears, but can be seen flickering alternately in both the location
where is should have dissapeared from one screen, and in the location on the
adjacent screen where it should have re-appeared. Moving the mouse has no
effect, and the keybopard does not respond to Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace,
or any other input.

If I start a program and the window appears in the left hand screen,
then I can't access it with the mouse because of the above problem. If I
select 'Move' from the taskbar, then as I drag the mouse, the
application window moves from the left to the centre screen, but the
mouse (hand) pointer is actually moving from the center of the right
hand screen to the right. As the focus of the window moves from the left
hand screen, the window then suddenly jumps to the right hand screen and
it's titlebar is then positioned correctly under the mouse cursor.

I can drag a window almost fully into the left hand screen, by holding
the title bar by it's right hand end, and without allowing the mouse to
enter the left hand screen, I can double click it to maximise the window
in the left screen. But, if the mouse cursor crosses the center-left
screen boundry, the mouse and keyboard lock up as before.

The above relates to the configuration with the submitted diagnostic files.
The problem occurs regardless of what applications are running or being dragged
across the screens. It fails equally with browsers, terminal windows or any
other.

While trying to narrow down what could be the problem, I tried a couple of
different configurations.
I disabled the left hand screen (hardware configuration unchanged, only
xorg.conf updated) and used only the center and right screens. With that
configuration similar symptoms appeared between the center and right hand
screens.
In some configurations, if Alt was pressed on it's own while the kbd/mouse were
frozen, then the display was reset and the X/GDM user selection login screen
was shown. You could then log back in. (with situation unchanged) but I've
tried so many different configs and I couldn't determine what may be associated
for this last symptom.
