The default is set to off in evdev 2.5.0, but won't be backported. If you want to disable the feature you can do so by adding this to /etc/X11/xorg.conf Section "InputClass" Identifier "middle button emulation" MatchIsPointer "on" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "off" EndSection
