I'm also affected, closing and re-opening the lid causes the display to
flicker in irregualar intervals. I' using an Acer 1825 with an Intel
Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev
07) c.
Calling sudo get-edid, however, seems to fix the problem. Flickering
does not

fuy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

This also affects me. Toshiba A660-01T, Intel Mobile HD chipset. Screen
flickers twice after moving the mouse or clicking something then
everything seems normal again.

Unfortunately, affects me too. The whole desktop works, but after the
laptop lid is closed and re-opened, the log starts to fill with
"Skipping EDID probe due to cached edid" records and the UI becomes
unusable.

I have found a stable method to reproduce the bug on my system.
I start:
