I tried it also with nvidia drivers and xorg from xorg-edgers but the
situation is the same... now after 1 day 600MB of memory used by xorg,
47% CPU. Unusable.

It does with kernel 2.6.34, 2.6.32-15-5. With 2.6.32-22, the kdm doesn't
even start. I use Kubuntu Lucid, as described.
