As suggested by kurt belgrave , I have tried to change the kernel (
edited in the menu.lst in grub) and went to lower version.
Now there is no mouse cursor issue.
Thanks to kurt belgrave for his multiple suggestions. With this simple
work around , I am able to work in the system.

I have pasted below , the lshw -c display output with the current kernel

hookup a video card ( lets say nvidia) .
