Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
I have a laptop with external monitor and when I use System, Preferences, Monitor to configure dual head mode with the desktop extended across the two displays (with monitor to the right) with resolutions 1280x800 on the laptop and 1280x1024 on the monitor (the native resolutions) the desktop only extends half way across the external monitor and only 3/4 of the height. I believe it may be clamping at total width 2048 and only using 800 of the available 1024 on the external monitor. To make matters worse, when I log out and back in I get only a reduced width display on the laptop and nothing on the monitor. I have to revert to mirrored mode and start again to get the external monitor back. I have dual boot with 10.04 and when I boot into 10.04 the dual head display works fine.
