The title of this bug stuck out to me because the bottom area of the Clickpad
is disabled in the kernel for button detection. All I had to do was take a
look at the Dmesg log to confirm the problem. The Dmesg log shows "Synaptics:
Clickpad mode enabled".

sorry, how did you know about the improper detection, it had been referred to
in the xinput, devices and Xorg.0.log as Synaptics "Touchpad". also I need to
increase my knowledge with this package, so if you have some references, I will
appreciate this.

Ok, I did the test, if it can help I can do the same on my 10.04 install
where the touchpad is correctly detected.

I was just checking that it's correctly detected and the touch area
misdetection doesn't interfere with Horizontal-Scrolling, the Bug is almost
confirmed but we need to query for some info about the device and to confirm
the misdetection, to do so:
Please run: xev >~xev
it will popup a sm

I attached a wireless mouse and it works fine.
Please note that touchpad also works except for the bottom part (hardware is
tested and works ok in Ubuntu 10.04).
