I have same problem. Dell Inspiron N5010, ATI 5650 card proprietary drivers. I
leave laptop turned on and I find it frozen after few min ( 1min blank screen,
5 min standby ). Screen is completely blank ( like turned off ), processor
seems to be in some kind activity ( fan is working hard ). Ctrl

When it locks up the machine responds to nothing including Ctrl-Alt-F1.
I've tried a few of the other screen savers but could not get any of them
to work. Ant-headlight is also inconsistent in its operation but when it
does run it always locks the machine.

Thank you for opening this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. I would
firstly like to ask what specific problems you are facing when your
laptop 'locks up' and whether you are facing the same problems with
different screensavers or just with the ant-headlight screensaver.
