Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg
Since upgrading to Maverick (fresh install from DVD, keeping /home from a Lucid install) on my Compaq Presario CQ42 I have a problem where the trackpad freezes intermittently for a few seconds every half a minute or so, i.e. the cursor doesn't move and other input (keyboard) also seems to hang. I get the feeling that it occurs more frequently when I use the trackpad for scrolling, but this is not definitive - it happens at other times too. The freeze seems to be shortened by hitting space or other keys at which point the display seems to suddenly "catch up" with the input (scrolling, keystrokes etc.) that was made during the freeze. Needless to say this is significantly annoying.
