Public bug reported:
On an HP EliteBook 8440w with an NVidia Quadro NVS 3100M graphics card,
the display backlight can be changed in brightness using hotkeys without
problems but once the display has gone into powersave mode after
inactivity, it does not turn back on.
I can see that the display image itself comes back from black when
having the display output cloned via external graphics output but the
laptop panel stays black all the time. I can only get the panel
reactivated by switching to a text console (e.g. CTRL+ALT+F1) and back
(CTRL+ALT+F7 or 8).
Please indicate if any additional information is needed.
